Greetings sisters in Christ! I hope you are all doing well. Today I want to address the issue of a husband who disagrees with the scriptures on biblical dress and headcovering and then tries to get his wife to obey him instead of God. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29 To start off, I'll share with you that God's word teaches His daughters how to DRESS and HEAD COVER. We have women reaching out, when they see such things, asking for help and encouragement of which I'm happy to be there for them! Then, more often than not, as they begin being biblical in their appearance, their husbands try to get them to stop and the woman thinks she needs to obey him over God. I'll share a real life example from a woman that (recently) reached out to me and claimed to obey all scripture for women, (turns out she was lying about many things). Here are some recent screen captures claiming to explain her change from wearing a headcovering to not wearing it. She uses Ephesians 5 to justify her sin against God by obeying her husband who is asking her to sin. Nowhere are we every to sin for someone. She should have showed him Acts 5:29 and said she loves him, reverences him and will obey him in all things except sin. Notice she didn't say anything in option #1 about obeying God first? She belittled that option by saying it would be back talking and causing a stink or down grading him. No, it would have been simple, obeying God. Yes, God put husbands in authority but they are not in authority over and above God's Word like she is making it to be. And then we see the common excuse of comparing 'grave' sins against something that most people call 'non essentials' (such as headcovering, dress, pagan holidays etc.) She has just proven that her husband is an idol because she just put his words higher in value than God's word and obeying it. She's showing that she loves her husband more than God. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matthew 6:24 We have ONE master, that is our Lord and we follow Him by being obedient to Him, through the Word. The Word says we are to obey our husband but we are never to sin! That means if your husband wants you to not cover your head and not dress biblical because he doesn't like it and you do what he says, then HE is now your master, not Jesus. That's sin and worthy of being cast into outter darkness if there is no repentance. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 8 It's not a matter of a piece of clothing 'saving' you. It's not a matter of you putting it on that will get you into heaven. It's a matter of OBEDIENCE to God. And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Hebrews 5:9 Sisters, if your husband asks you to sin or even demands it, you must rebel against that and obey God instead. Be kind and loving but show him the scriptures and then go an obey God. Yes it may very well cause issues in your marriage but Jesus said that we must be willing to lose our life to find it didn't He? And... And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. Matthew 19:29 I pray for strength and encouragement for you sisters and I urge you to immediately obey in ALL things lest this be your last day. Praise God for each breath and the opportunity for repentance.
Let me know how I can help you in the ways for godly women. Love, blessings, peace and joy to you all in Christ, Sister Deb |
